Fresh for the new year Oxygen Music Works explodes with the upfront, in-your-face grooves of Bass Kittens. Bubbling up from the San Francisco underground, here are four tracks for your many moods. Picture emotions that run the gamut from the lighthearted jazz-funk keyboards of Barry Adamson to the post-punk hip hop of Meat Beat Manifesto and you'll have an idea of where Bass Kittens makes its home.

Bass Kittens is more commonly known as Jon Drukman, a musician whose credits read like an encyclopedia of electronic culture. As one-third of The Ultraviolet Catastrophe, Drukman scored the underground anthem, "The Trip," released on the critically acclaimed Hardkiss label (and now available on re-release from Ultra Violet Recordings). It was featured on the breakthrough compilation, California Dreaming (FFRR) and an unreleased single, "Full Moon (crescent mix)" appeared on Silent Records' 50 Years of Sunshine, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of LSD. UVC has also remixed such artists as The Orb, Rozalla, Anything Box, Up Above The World, and Contagion.

Even flying solo, Drukman has already proven his weight in synthesizer components. He was instrumental in the success of two other prominent Hardkiss singles, serving as sound engineer on God Within's "Raincry" and engineer/remixer on Hawke's "3 Nudes in a Purple Garden." His ambient alter-ego, Artificial Paradise, debuted last year on Silent Records' From Here To Tranquility Volume 1 compilation, and he has co-written two tracks on Lowdown Motivator from Astralwerks' recording artist Freaky Chakra.

With a resume like that, if Bass Kittens is not already on your turntable, stop what you're doing and throw it on because it's time to dance!
